I did Pot…tery!!!!

I have been thinking about that title all morning, and has made me laugh every time! Sad I know…

The other day, hubbalicious came across a cute little paint/art studio two minutes away from our house. He was actually going to the convenient store next store, but the bright colors in the window caught his attention. So we went for a stroll that afternoon, if you haven’t heard of this place you have to Google 4Cats Art Studio, I definitely recommend you find one close to you and have a looksys. Even if it’s just to get your artistic side ignited. Now it does seem to be aimed more towards children but there are some adult classes there as well. The day of our stroll we went exploring inside. The minute you walk in, it’s like a breath of fresh air for your mind. All the walls are covered with vibrant canvas’ from top to bottom. Some are done by children, teenagers and adults. There are paintings galore, clay pots everywhere, paper mache, sculptures and my favorite part the splatter room. (I think that’s what they call it) My heart skipped a beat when I saw this room!

Because my husband is so fabulous, before I could even ask what the next upcoming adult class was he was already on it. And before I knew it, I was signed up for Pottery 101. So yesterday I got to experience throwing, kneading, wetting, spinning and most importantly making a chunk or clay into what I would like to think a masterpiece. Now I won’t lie, I did get a little cocky and thought I was a pro and my bowl literally turned into an inverted lopsided plate, but the instructor came to my rescue and I was able to have round 2 and make the fancy little piece below.

I must say pottery is very relaxing. It is not as easy as they make it look in the romantic movies, there is a lot of pressure required with your hands, a lot of mapping out, thinking, sitting, standing but when you see what you are possible of doing… the entire experience is just beautiful. If you haven’t already, I totally recommend you give this a try. It’s such a good friends outing (rather then the boring old shopping, movies, etc), date night idea or simply a free your mind relaxing therapeutic all by your lonesome well needed date with yourself kinda activity. We also got to paint our creations at the end. I stuck with simple elegance. Black on the outside and off white in the inside. Unfortunately we don’t get to see our finished product for another two weeks, but you better believe I will be sharing the pictures immediately once I get the worlds greatest, sexiest small but perfect hand bowl!

Ahhhhh I feel amazing! What a great way to start the weekend. Who would’ve guessed that making a bowl would be so good for the soul! Yes I purposely rhymed that!

Heart, star.

Parita xoxo
